CHENGDU, China, Aug. 31, 2015 — Xizi Otis Elevator Co., Ltd. (“Xizi Otis”), will supply 133 elevators and escalators for Chengdu Metro Line 7, the first circular metro line serving Chengdu, the provincial capital of Sichuan in western China. Xizi Otis Elevator Co., Ltd is a subsidiary of Otis Elevator (China) Investment Company Ltd., which is a part of UTC Building & Industrial Systems, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).
Chengdu Metro Line 7 is an important addition to the city’s rail network. Passing through the city’s central business area, the network will be 38.6 kilometers in length with 31 stations including 18 transfer stations. Upon completion, Line 7 will pass through three major transport hubs – Chengdu North, Chengdu East and Chengdu South stations – providing more convenience for passengers. All stations along Chengdu Metro Line 7 will have Xizi Otis escalators and elevators, which are specially designed for public infrastructure with heavy passenger flow.
"Xizi Otis started working with Chengdu Metro in support of its Line 1 and Line 3 networks in 2013," said Alan Cheung, president, Xizi Otis. "We are very pleased to continue our business relationship and play a role in serving the riding public."
In addition to Chengdu Metro, Xizi Otis is serving metro and railway transport in cities across China such as Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Shenzhen and Kunming. In 2014, the same model of Xizi Otis escalators used in Chengdu Metro Line 7 received the Machinery Industry Science and Technology Award from the Zhejiang government in recognition of its quality and innovation.
