CHARLOTTE, N.C., Feb. 26, 2015 – The Manufacturing Institute announced they will award UTC Aerospace Systems employee Agnes Klucha with the Women in Manufacturing STEP (Science, Technology, Engineering and Production) Award. The STEP Awards honor women who have demonstrated excellence and leadership in their careers and represent all levels of the manufacturing industry.
UTC Aerospace Systems is a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX).
On March 26, The Manufacturing Institute will recognize 130 recipients of the STEP Awards at a reception in Washington, D.C.
“These 130 women are the faces of existing careers in manufacturing,” said Jennifer McNelly, president, The Manufacturing Institute. “We chose to honor these women because they each made significant achievements in manufacturing through positive impact on their company and the industry as a whole.”
The STEP Awards are part of the larger STEP Ahead initiative, launched to examine and promote the role of women in the manufacturing industry through recognition, research, and leadership for attracting, advancing, and retaining strong female talent.
Klucha is a program manager for research & technology partnerships at UTC Aerospace Systems’ facility in Windsor Locks, Conn. During her 19-year career at UTC, she has held various key roles and helped to foster a culture of research and innovation.
Klucha serves on the advisory board for the University of Connecticut’s Management and Engineering for Manufacturing degree program, a member of the National Academy of Sciences Panel on Review of the Engineering Labs at the National Institute of Standards and Technology and The Franklin Institute’s International Selection Committee for the Bower Award in Additive Manufacturing.
