U.S. Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark. and U.S. Rep. Steve Womack, R-Ark. visited Pratt & Whitney PSD to recognize the growth and investment made at the facility. In 2014, the company invested $6 million in capital upgrades to prepare for additional case repairs. The facility has grown in capacity by 60 percent since 2013.
Mike Finan, general manager, Pratt & Whitney PSD, kicked off the celebratory event. "We work in a very competitive industry," said Finan. "To succeed and grow in this industry you have to have people who can compete with the best in the world … The workforce here consists of highly-skilled technicians. The growth we are here to celebrate today would not be possible without their dedication and commitment."
Womack acknowledged Pratt & Whitney's investment and pledged his support. "I applaud Pratt & Whitney and for its continued contributions to the future of the PSD facility and our community," said Womack. "I will continue to do everything in my power to ensure that Pratt & Whitney can and will continue to do this vitally important work in the third district. We are so deeply proud to have you here."
Pratt & Whitney's military work was recognized by Cotton, who emphasized the company's significant role in the defense of the U.S. and its allies. "Companies like Pratt & Whitney for decades have provided us the tools we need to defend our country and to vindicate liberty, not just here but all around the world."
Kip Wyman, vice president, Aftermarket Operations, thanked the Pratt & Whitney PSD employees at the event.
"I also want to give special thanks to our employees. It's your hard work and dedication that gives us the confidence to invest in the future of this facility," said Wyman. "Your high-quality work, 95 percent on-time delivery and excellent market feedback from our customers are all part of the reason we are here today."
