Profiling The Production Ramp: The What, How and Why of Lasers in Manufacturing

The production ramp up is fast becoming a reality throughout Pratt & Whitney. To learn more about what that means to employees, we are launching the "Profiling the Production Ramp Up" video series, featuring Pratt & Whitney employees from across the enterprise. Whether they work in manufacturing, operations, supply chain management, engineering or quality, their message is the same: "We're ready for the ramp."

In this video, "The What, How and Why of Lasers in Manufacturing," Terry Madore, airfoil cell operator, Hot Section Module Center – East Hartford, explains lasers from a manufacturing perspective. In the piece, Madore talks about new machines the company has brought in to support advanced manufacturing as the company ramps up production.

"The machines that we've just recently got in have the ability to probe a part and offset that part for perfect loading position so that the holes are so repeatable," Madore said. "You no longer worry about having the holes out of position."
