TIANJIN, China, April 17, 2018— In a new agreement that marks the eighth cooperation with Wuhan Metro, Otis Elevator (China) Co., Ltd (“Otis China”) will provide 98 escalators for Phase II and III of the network’s Line 8. Since supporting the opening of Line 1 in 2004, Otis elevators and escalators have been serving all seven Wuhan Metro lines.
Wuhan Metro Line 8 Phase II is a 17 km underground line with 12 stations. Serving the East Lake scenic area, Shuiguo Lake administration center, Jiedaokou business area, and South Lake residential zone, the line extension will play an important role in the city’s future development as a service industry hub. As an extension to Phase I, the new line will also make cross-river transport more convenient.
Line 8 Phase III is a key infrastructure project supporting the 7th World Military Games scheduled to be held in Wuhan next year. It will run along Huang Jiahu Road, stretching 3.7 km with two stations, one of which is an interchange station.
“We are pleased to continue supporting Wuhan Metro over the past 14 years and witness how the city has flourished during this time,” said Luis Molina, President of Otis Elevator (China) Co., Ltd. “Our long and on-going relationship with Wuhan Metro is a solid endorsement of Otis’ products and services.”
