Nippon Otis Hosts Safety Workshop for Kindergarteners

Nippon Kindergarten workshop

TOKYO, December 22, 2016 — Nippon Otis Elevator Company recently hosted an elevator and escalator safety workshop for kindergarteners. More than 60 students from the “Kozu-no-Mori” kindergarten near a local Nippon Otis office attended. Otis, the world’s leading manufacturer of elevators, escalators and moving walkways, is a unit of United Technologies Corp (NYSE: UTX).

The safety workshop aims to educate young children on how to safely ride elevators and escalators. Nippon Otis has been hosting these workshops since 2009 at kindergartens and other locations near the Nippon Otis Logistics and Engineering Center in Shibayama. During the workshop, students drew cartoons, participated in quizzes and learned how elevators work on the Genoa truck – a truck specially equipped by Nippon Otis with demonstration machines and mini elevators.

The official mascot characters of the Japan Elevator Association and of the local Shibayama town also visited the safety workshop at “Kozu-no-Mori” kindergarten.

"The safety workshop for kids is a community activity unique to Nippon Otis, and something we are proud to bring to the community," said Koji Ota, director of the Learning Center at the Nippon Otis Logistics and Engineering Center. "We look forward to providing more opportunities to learn about elevators and escalators in a fun and engaging way."

Nippon Otis plans to continue to promote the safety of elevators and escalators through hosting more educational activities for the community.
