China’s 1st G20 Summit Supported by Otis Electric Special Service Agreement

HANGZHOU, China, June 13, 2016 — With the G20 Summit being held for the first time in China in Hangzhou during September, Xizi Otis Elevator Company Limited (“Xizi Otis”), through the sub-brand Otis Electric, has stepped up to support the Hangzhou Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision by providing enhanced escalator services during the event. Otis Electric is a sub-brand of Otis Elevator Company, which is a part of Otis, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).

The Escalator Service Target Responsibility Agreement will include metro escalator units in the core area of the city through the 2016 G20 Summit Sept. 4-5. “We are honored to contribute to key international events like the G20 Summit. Our responsibilities start immediately, with a full program of special maintenance works,” Otis Electric and Xizi Otis President Lawrence Chui said.

To fulfill its Escalator Service Target Responsibility Agreement, a dedicated Otis Electric service group will develop and carry out a systematic escalator inspection and maintenance program prior to the summit opening. The group will perform detailed checks of all relevant escalators, design a special coverage plan, order any spare parts that may be necessary, and conduct a simulation exercise to ensure preparedness, offering technical assistance to pursue the smooth operation of Otis and non-Otis escalators as necessary.

During the summit, Xizi Otis will offer comprehensive around-the-clock technical Otis Electric service for escalators covered by the contract. This will include emergency rescue support, on-site technical and management support, and logistics support, with personnel, equipment and transport vehicles standing by at all times.

Otis China has provided similar support to world-class events in recent years, including the Beijing Olympic Games, Guangzhou Asian Games, World Internet Conference, Shanghai World Expo, Nanjing Youth Olympic Games, and various sessions of the National People's Congress (NPC) and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).

The G20 is an international economic cooperation forum that encourages industrialized and emerging economies to collaborate to promote global financial stability and sustained economic growth. The 11th G20 Summit will be held in Hangzhou on Sept. 4-5, 2016.
