TIANJIN, China, April 7, 2016 – Otis Elevator (China) Co., Ltd. (“Otis China”) will provide 48 elevators for Xiamen International Trade Financial Center (Xiamen ITFC), a world-class financial services complex now under development in Fujian province, China’s southeastern commercial gateway. Otis, the world’s largest manufacturer and maintainer of people-moving products, including elevators, escalators and moving walkways, is a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).
Xiamen ITFC is located within the city’s new Cross-Strait Financial Services district, which is being developed to promote closer economic ties between mainland China and Taiwan. Upon completion in 2016, Xiamen ITFC’s twin towers reaching 137 meters will be a new city landmark that serves as a base for major financial companies.
Xiamen ITFC will use 48 Otis® elevators, including 14 Skyrise® high-rise elevators, 18 Gen2® elevators and 16 Otis Sky® elevators. The Otis Skyrise elevator is especially designed for high-rise buildings and skyscrapers, offering a rise of up to 600 meters with single-deck, double-deck and super double-deck configurations. A number of China’s new urban landmarks, including Shenzhen Ping’an Financial Center, Tianjin 117 Goldin Finance Center and Chengdu Yintai Center, have installed Otis Skyrise elevators.
“Our participation in the iconic Xiamen ITFC project once again demonstrates Otis’ technologies and services as the preferred choice for customers,” said Tony Black, president, Otis Elevator (China) Investment Co. Ltd. “With more than 160 years of industry experience, and a strong track record of contributing to iconic buildings in China, we are committed to supporting China as an emerging superpower with world-class infrastructure.”
Otis is committed to delivering innovative solutions that meet the growing demand for sustainable products. Otis Gen2 and Skyrise elevators set the standard for performance, reliability, design flexibility and comfort, while reducing costs and energy usage throughout their lifecycle. ReGen drives, featured in Gen2 and Skyrise elevators, convert excess energy created as the elevator descends into electricity and feed this captured power back into the building’s electric grid for reuse by other building systems such as lighting.
“Sustainable urbanization is reshaping how cities are built and the need for advanced solutions has never been greater,” said Black. “We congratulate the Xiamen ITFC team on implementing sustainable solutions into their development project.”
