TIANJIN, China, Dec. 8, 2015 - Otis Elevator China Company Ltd. (“Otis China”) will install 130 elevators at Harbin Yintai City, a high-end, mixed-use complex now under development in Harbin, the capital of northeast China’s Heilongjiang Province. The installation, which includes 130 Otis Gen2® elevators and LINK escalators, is expected to be completed by the end of 2016. Otis is a unit of United Technologies Corp. With a construction area of more than 1.6 million square meters, Harbin Yintai City will include high-end shopping malls, office buildings, residential properties and serviced apartments. Developed by Yintai Property Group, one of the largest property developers in China, the project is expected to become a new landmark in Harbin.
“Otis China is proud to support Yintai Property Group with this new project in Harbin. Over the years, Otis elevators and escalators have been selected for use in Yintai’s projects across China. The long-term business relationship between Yintai and Otis China underscores strong customer recognition of Otis’ products and service,” said Tony Black, President, Otis Elevator (China) Investment Co Ltd.
The Otis Gen2 elevator was selected for the prestigious project due to its leading quality and performance. The Otis Gen2 elevator to be deployed in Harbin Yintai City is a new generation of energy-efficient elevators designed for residential and commercial segments. Among its innovations is the use of composite polyurethane steel belts, which make the system more compact and efficient, and gives it a working life three times longer than systems that use conventional steel ropes. Gen2 also leads as an environmentally sustainable elevator system, using Otis ReGen drive technology, which when combined with the belts, offers energy savings of up to 75 percent compared to systems with non-regenerative drives.
