Located on the southern bank of Qiantang River, Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center will equal the Bird’s Nest in Beijing in capacity to become one of China’s largest stadiums. In addition to the main stadium, which is due for completion by the end of this year, the Sports Center will provide an 18,000-seat gymnasium and facilities for swimming, tennis, softball, hockey and athletics, among others. It is designed to host world-class international, regional and national games. A new landmark building complex of Zhejiang Province, the facility is one of the key infrastructure projects of Hangzhou’s 12th Five-Year Plan.
“Xizi Otis congratulates Hangzhou on being selected as the host of the 2022 Asian Games by the Olympic Council,” said Alan Cheung, president, Xizi Otis. “Hangzhou is the home base of Xizi Otis, and we are very proud to provide our superior products and services to the magnificent Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center.”
The energy-efficient Gen2 series elevators selected for the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center are a flagship Otis product line. These high-performance elevators are used in a number of A-grade commercial properties, high-end residential buildings and five-star hotels, winning broad recognition from developers, building management companies and government departments. The Gen2-MRTM, for example, won the 2014 China Machinery Industry Science and Technology Award, which is China’s top machinery accolade.
Designed to support China’s urbanization, the Gen2-MRTM uses patented Otis technologies, including composite steel flat belts that replace traditional elevator cables to improve efficiency and ride comfort. It also features the compact Gen2® gearless machine, which requires minimal machine room space and allows rapid installation, as well as the innovative ReGenTM drive that enables the Gen2 systems to be up to 75 percent more energy efficient than conventional systems with non-regenerative drives.
Following the Otis global quality management system, Xizi Otis will provide high-quality elevator products and excellent services to support the Otis equipment installed in Hangzhou’s world-class sports infrastructure. For more information, visit www.xiziotis.com.
