Xizi Otis Provides 180 Green Elevators for New Housing in Mudanjiang

MUDANJIANG, China, April 6, 2015 — Xizi Otis Elevator Co. , Ltd. (“Xizi Otis”) will supply and service 180 energy-conserving and space-saving Gen2™-MR elevators for nine new housing projects as it continues to support the urbanization of Mudanjiang, Heilongjiang province, in northeast China. According to government statistics, the contract was one of the largest government elevator procurement orders in China in 2014. Xizi Otis is a subsidiary of Otis Elevator (China) Investment Company Limited, which is a part of UTC Building & Industrial Systems, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).

Mudanjiang is a center of tourism and trade in northern China and has been undergoing a building boom in recent years. Overseeing the city’s development, the Mudanjiang municipal government is emphasizing energy-efficient and environmentally responsible growth and high-quality facilities for residents. It selected Xizi Otis' innovative Gen2-MR elevators to provide convenient, comfortable and green vertical transport for the new residential communities of Beiyue City, Min'an Garden, Yinglong Bay, Yixin Garden, Shenglin New Residence, Xicheng Green Capital, Phoenix City, East Lake and Chunhui Garden.

“We are pleased to support Mudanjiang in developing a harmonious new city that incorporates advanced products and services. This is the second significant Gen2-MR order for Mudanjiang and, as such, is a good recognition of Xizi Otis’ use of technology and experience, as well as a reaffirmation of our energy-conserving Gen2-MR elevator,” said Alan Cheung, president, Xizi Otis.

The Gen2-MR small machine room elevator was produced by Xizi Otis especially for China’s modern green buildings. It uses patented Otis technologies, including composite steel flat belts that replace traditional elevator cables to improve efficiency and ride comfort, the compact Gen2 gearless machine that requires minimal machine room space and allows rapid installation, and the innovative ReGen™ drive that makes Gen2 systems up to 75 percent more energy efficient than conventional systems with non-regenerative drives.

“Since 2013, Xizi Otis and the Mudanjiang municipal government have already installed 101 energy-conserving Gen2-MR elevators in new housing developments that are now open to residents," said Yu Bin, general manager, Xizi Otis Heilongjiang branch. "To support these and our latest housing projects, we have set up a local liaison office to provide rapid expert response and ensure we provide the highest-quality support to building managers and passengers in these communities.”
