UTC Deploys Disaster Safety Training in Rural Mao County, China

UTC earthquake survivors return to Mao County to train students.

On May 12, 2008, one of history's most devastating earthquakes - measuring 7.9 magnitude - struck the Sichuan region in south central China.

School children were among those who lost their lives and school buildings were among those destroyed in this mountainous region.

In the years since this natural disaster, and in the wake of others that have followed, United Technologies Corporation has partnered with China Women's Development Foundation and other local non-profit organizations to create a preparedness and response network for crises like these.

To coincide with the ten-year anniversary of this tragic event, United Technologies’ employee volunteers – in collaboration with non-profit partners – traveled to remote Mao County to further deploy its safety programs.  This is how, at United Technologies, we #MakeThingsBetter.
