Carrier Transicold Unveils Xarios® 8 and Neos® HE 100 S Electric Refrigeration Units for Light Commercial Vehicles

Carrier Transicold presents two new innovative, all-electric products for refrigeration transport at the 2019 Solutrans exhibition. The new Xarios 8 and Neos HE 100 S units are major advancements for light commercial vehicle refrigeration. Carrier Transicold is a part of Carrier, a leading global provider of innovative HVAC, refrigeration, fire, security and building automation technologies.

The Xarios 8 unit completes the current Xarios range, which already includes six models, ranging from 1,500 watts to 5,500 watts, allowing professionals to equip a wide range of light commercial vehicle sizes. The 5,500 watt unit has the highest cooling capacity in the range and offers a solution for light commercial vehicles from 20m3 to 45m3. The Xarios 8 unit features a new design and technological innovations that improves efficiency, while helping to improve its cooling capacity, environmental impact and maintenance costs. The Xarios 8’s packaging is optimized, by making its shell by injection rather than thermoforming, which reduces the number of manufacturing steps required and allows for better control of the process.

Thanks to a new evaporator ventilation motor and a new brushless condenser ventilation system, part wear is reduced and condenser ventilation control is optimized. All these improvements allow the Xarios 8 units to have a very low refrigerant charge, thus reducing its impact on the environment.

On the strength of these proven improvements, Carrier Transicold will launch the new Xarios 5 series and 6 series models by the second quarter of 2020, which will replace the current Xarios 500 and 600 models by incorporating technological innovations that will enable these units to maintain their cooling capacity while reducing their environmental impact.

Carrier Transicold has demonstrated its experience with the Neos range of fully electric products over the past decade. Taking into account the new constraints of the automotive industry, the new Neos HE 100 S HE (High Efficiency) unit optimizes its energy consumption and refrigeration system while maintaining a cooling capacity almost equivalent to that of the Neos 100 S unit.

All these technical improvements allow the Neos HE 100 S unit to achieve a 30% reduction in energy consumption compared to the Neos 100 S unit. Its consumption of 60 Ampere allows it to be used on the most recent internal combustion engine vehicles*. Its cooling capacity is almost equivalent to that of the Neos 100 S, allowing the same fresh applications from 2 to 6 m3 to be maintained.
