FlexSight™ LS2000 Line-of-Sight Infrared Gas Detector selected for ability to improve safety and application of IEC 61508 standard
Det-Tronics announced today that its FlexSight™ LS2000 Line-of-Sight Infrared Gas Detector was recently selected by exida, a leader in functional safety and cybersecurity certification for the process industries, as a winner of its coveted annual Safety Award. Det-Tronics, the global leader in fire- and gas-safety systems, is a part of UTC Climate, Controls & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corporation. (NYSE: UTX).
The FlexSight LS2000, released earlier this year, is a next-generation solution that sets a new standard for infrared line-of-sight gas detectors with improved optical field of view, an advanced housing design, simplified mount and breakthrough alignment tolerance. Designed to provide continuous monitoring of combustible hydrocarbon gas concentrations in a wide range, the technology was recognized for its safety features in exida’s fire and gas sensor category.
“The products and processes that were nominated for this year’s awards are all extremely innovative and exhibit exceptional work,” says Mike Medoff, exida senior safety engineer. “This made for a very tough selection process, however we feel as though the chosen products and process best exemplify innovation and have the ability to benefit and improve application of IEC 61508 or IEC 62443. Congratulations to this year’s award recipients.”
Mark Gaalswyk, gas detection product manager, Det-Tronics added, "The FlexSight LS2000 was developed to perform in harsh, real-life operating conditions, including foggy environments and areas prone to severe vibrations. It has been field-proven to effectively send alerts in these conditions where previous line-of-sight products failed. It is also much easier to install and align, which reduces average installation and maintenance time significantly.”
In recent years, Det-Tronics has developed several innovative, technically-advanced fire- and gas-safety solutions for hazardous and industrial applications, including the award-winning FlexSonic® Acoustic Gas Leak Detector. “This award from exida for the FlexSight LS2000 is evidence of the dedication Det-Tronics has to developing high-performing products for its customers,” added Gaalswyk.
