Carrier® introduced the latest release of its i-Vu® Web-based BACnet® building automation system, which is now compatible with multiple browsers on desktops and tablets. With this version, customers can access i-Vu from iOS®, Android™ and Windows®-based tablets. Carrier, the world’s leader in high-technology heating, air-conditioning and refrigeration solutions, is a part of UTC Building & Industrial Systems, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).
“We realize our customers need to access their systems from a variety of locations,” said Mark Jones, business manager, Carrier Controls. “We’re very pleased to offer multiple browser and tablet support for the i-Vu building automation system, which provides our customers the flexibility to access their systems from tablets, without additional browser or device downloads.”
Another enhancement available in this new release includes full support for both Carrier Comfort Network® (CCN) and Carrier Open (BACnet) systems, allowing customers to manage their Carrier control system through a single i-Vu user interface.
Available in three versions, i-Vu was designed using native BACnet, a data communication protocol for building automation and control networks that allows manufacturers to create interoperable building automation products. The i-Vu Standard and i-Vu Plus versions come with software pre-installed on a compact Web server, while i-Vu Pro is a software-only version that can be installed on any computer. The i-Vu Pro version is certified by the BACnet Testing Laboratories (BTL) as an Advanced Operator Workstation Software (B-AWS). This advanced certification is the highest level of the three types of BACnet certification available for an operator workstation.
