- HUMS: Flexible Health and Usage Management Systems (HUMS) from Collins Aerospace have been proven to help boost aircraft readiness, enhance flight safety and lower maintenance and operating costs. HUMS automatically monitors hundreds of aircraft signals through a network of advanced sensors and onboard computers, then synthesizes and analyzes the flight data from the engine, rotor and drive train to track the usage and health of an aircraft and its major assemblies.
- Pegasus: The Pegasus rescue hoist is Collins Aerospace’s first complete hoist redesign in 20 years, and incorporates all the company has learned during its four decades in the hoist business. Pegasus will offer operators a number of key benefits including a HUMS that measures and records essential hoist parameters, a modular architecture for simplified field maintenance and an improved drum system to extend cable life. Collins Aerospace will display a working Pegasus prototype and anticipates the system will enter production in 2021.
- Vehicle Management Computer: Long a leader in flight control computers (FCC) for rotorcraft, Collins Aerospace is showcasing the next generation of advanced fly-by-wire technology with its Vehicle Management Computer (VMC). Expected to become available in 2022, the VMC will have 20 times the computing power of the company’s existing FCC through the incorporation of three dissimilar multi-core processors and high-speed communications. The VMC is also being built with open-source software that offers customers the flexibility to add a wide variety of applications – including fully autonomous flight capabilities.
