Diamonte Named Among Most Powerful CIOs

Ranks No. 5 in CIO Magazine’s ‘New Power 100’

Diamonte Robin 9

UTC's Robin Diamonte was named the No. 5 most powerful chief investment officer in a new ranking released by Chief Investment Officer magazine. The ranking – called The New Power 100 – was compiled using five weighted factors: innovation, collaboration, talent development, fund size and asset-owner tenure.

The listing says, “Diamonte has pioneered change in United Technologies’ defined contribution plan, developed talent and has been as collaborative as anyone in the corporate space. She is, simply put, an industry star.” This is the second consecutive year Diamonte has ranked No. 5 on the magazine’s list of top CIOs.

Diamonte is responsible for overseeing UTC’s $52 billion in global retirement assets, including $24 billion in domestic pension plans, $7 billion in foreign pension plans and $21 billion in the defined contribution plan.

“Robin continues to make us proud as she leads ground-breaking work in this critical area,” said Akhil Johri, UTC Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. “This is well-deserved recognition among a very strong field of CIOs.”

“This recognition speaks to the creativity, dedication and professionalism of the entire pension group at UTC,” Diamonte said. “I’m honored to lead such a talented team.”

Diamonte has been widely recognized for her innovative approach to asset management. Earlier this year, she was voted CIO of the Year by her peers in the Investor Intelligence Network (IIN), an online forum of senior financial decision-makers. In January 2014, President Barack Obama appointed her to the Advisory Committee to the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC).
