Sustainability in Action
The Grid
In October 2023, we opened a new $50 million state-of-the art electric power systems lab in Rockford, Illinois, called The Grid. We will use it to develop and test key components for hybrid-electric propulsion and more electric systems, a central pillar of the aviation industry’s drive to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
Partnering for Sustainable Technology
Reaching the civil aviation sector’s ambitious 2050 goals will be challenging, and we will only be successful with cross-sector industry actions and support from global policymakers. We work with stakeholders to overcome challenges and achieve industry alignment on technologies, effective measurement processes, interoperability, infrastructure and regulatory policies. This includes collaboration with customers, industry associations, academic and research institutions, standards development organizations, and government agencies.
