We encourage people to candidly share with us their ideas, their comments and even their criticisms.
While we can create the highest standards and toughest metrics for our products and our corporate responsibility initiatives, we understand that what we do can be improved by including diverse stakeholders in the process.
Each year, we look to independent scientists, environmentalists and engaged citizens to share with us their thoughts on our corporate responsibility performance.
- In 2008, UTC hosted formal stakeholder meetings in London and Washington, D.C., to review corporate responsibility initiatives and reporting. Since 2006, UTC has convened annual stakeholder meetings in these cities in addition to less formal feedback sessions in New York and Beijing. In response to the meetings, attended by socially responsible investors, NGO leaders and corporate executives from peer companies, UTC enhanced its reporting on corporate responsibility initiatives and began to look more directly at the relationship between revenue streams and green products and environmental initiatives.
- At the 2007 London meeting, stakeholders complimented our progress but called for stronger targets and more detail, especially about UTC’s business units. We adopted many of the suggested changes and validated the improvements in our 2008 meetings.
- UTC convened a stakeholders meeting in San Francisco in conjunction with the 2007 Business for Social Responsibility conference. The meeting focused on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in China and was of particular importance to UTC given the company’s involvement in the Chinese market.
- In 2006, UTC conducted a global stakeholder survey, which included interviews with over 40 CSR leaders from Europe, North America and Asia. The survey focused in particular on the 2005 CSR report and whether it provided clear and comprehensive information to readers. Those surveyed asked for more stakeholder involvement as well as for more information on sustainable products and revenues.
UTC encourages stakeholders to provide feedback on the company’s results and corporate responsibility reporting by exploring our Web site. Comments from the information submitted on this site are reviewed systematically to identify ways to continuously improve the subject mater and metrics used in our reporting. Please provide your feedback to the right.
