The following are volunteer activities and organizations that UTC is proud to support for their alignment with the company's philanthropic initiatives:

Habitat for Humanity - Carrier

Carrier began its involvement with Habitat for Humanity International in 1994. Each year, Carrier helps families in need by financially sponsoring new homes, donating heating equipment and providing volunteers to complete projects. To date, Carrier and its employees have donated over $1.8 million and over 15,000 volunteer hours.

Power to Read - Pratt and Whitney

Pratt & Whitney and the Raymond Foundation, which addresses the needs of children with reading difficulties, created a reading tutorial program for fourth graders at the Hockanum Elementary School in East Hartford, Conn. The Power to Read Program began in 2002.

Special Olympics - Otis

Launched in June 1994 with an international flag raising ceremony at Otis World Headquarters in Farmington, Conn., Team Otis' support of Special Olympics around the globe brings a special camaraderie to Otis employees worldwide. UTC has sponsored the Special Olympics Connecticut Summer Games for 27 years.

Tour de Cure - Sikorsky

Since 2003, Sikorsky employee cyclists, their friends and families have raised $25,000 for diabetes through participation in the American Diabetes Association's annual cycling event, Tour de Cure.

Team Green

Team Green offers employees volunteer opportunities that complement UTC's Sustainable Cities initiative. Sustainable Cities supports the development and use of green building practices in urban centers and creates new programs to educate the public about the need for more healthful environments nationwide.

In January, 2005, more than 20 UTC employee volunteers took part in the first Team Green volunteer opportunity, a Habitat for Humanity "house build" in New York City.

Trust for Public Land

UTC employees are providing pro bono services to the Trust for Public Land throughout the northeastern United States to contribute to the preservation of parks and green space.
