Commercial air travel continues to take off – in fact, the number of airplanes in service is expected to double by 2030. With less than 20% of the world’s population ever stepping onto an airplane, it’s not surprising that aviation growth is upon us. But the solution for green aviation does not lie only in the skies. This week, UTC released a white paper addressing the efforts being made “on the ground” to meet the aviation industry’s aggressive long-term sustainability goals.

From technologies like the Pratt & Whitney PurePower® Geared Turbofan™, additive manufacturing and nanomaterials in the sky, to a focus on carbon neutral airports and greening aerospace factories, the timing is right for these efforts to come together to advance the sustainable future of aviation.
