Lifetime learning is essential to career development. But it also can be a model for others to follow.

That is the case with William Speight III. “I was an older worker out of high school for about three decades when I joined the Employee Scholar Program. I wanted to motivate my younger daughter to continue her schooling by obtaining a degree myself.” That is when he began pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business management from Albertus Magnus College.

Today William is a jet engine test inspector, conducting daily checks on multiple engine models to ensure the highest quality for Pratt & Whitney customers.

In addition to his education serving as a positive example for his family, William’s efforts gave him the expertise to advance his professional life. “I now better understand the business needs of Pratt & Whitney and how to meet them,” he says. “The aerospace industry is changing rapidly. Lifetime learning is essential.”
