Melinda Dean is passionate about her work, and it shows. The Pratt & Whitney manufacturing engineer was part of the North Berwick, Maine, team that won IndustryWeek’s 2015 North America Best Plants Award.

“It was such an honor for all of us,” says Melinda. “But what I’ve found with engineering is that you’re never done. There is always something you could do better.” And she is preparing herself to do just that.

Through the Employee Scholar program, she is pursuing her master’s degree in systems engineering and technology management at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. “I always wanted to continue my education beyond my undergraduate degree,” she says. “The ESP is allowing me to do just that. I’m very thankful. The Employee Scholar Program is enabling me to meet a personal goal while giving me an opportunity to advance my career.”
