Ashutosh Kumar Jha wasn’t alone when he decided to pursue a master’s degree in technology. Thirty-three of his colleagues are enrolled in the same program. “It has been fun and motivating to attend classes with my fellow employees,” says Ashutosh. “I know we are all thankful to UTC for providing such a wonderful opportunity.”

Ashutosh says he couldn’t resist when he learned that he could enroll in a work integrated program focused on embedded systems. “As a software engineer, I wanted to improve my understanding of the multidisciplinary aspects of real-time embedded systems design and development,” he says. Classes are held on the UTC Aerospace Systems campus in Bengalaru, making it convenient to combine practical work experience with highly technical coursework.

Although he entered the degree program with a strong computing background, Ashutosh credits the ESP with giving him greater confidence and encouraging him to be more innovative. “My studies have given me a better understanding of very complex aerospace systems, especially navigation and hybrid navigation systems.”

To date Ashutosh has filed one invention disclosure and hopes to propose additional R&D projects that will enhance the business of UTC Aerospace Systems. He also is interested in exploring the opportunities in future technologies such as the Internet of Things and more networked aircrafts.

“My master’s degree has helped me broaden the horizon of my thoughts and see all of the possibilities,” he says.

In the meantime he and his 33 classmates are focused on their studies and looking forward to graduation in 2017.
