Background of Ombudsman/DIALOG

UTC's Ombudsman/DIALOG Program was created in 1986, to provide an alternate communication channel for employees and others who want to raise a question or concern confidentially. The Program provides a safe channel for people to seek guidance, ask questions, make comments, and report suspected misconduct without fear of retaliation. Ombudsman/DIALOG is a communication intermediary and is available when you have an issue but don’t want to contact management directly.

To date, Ombudsman/DIALOG has received more than 85,000 inquiries. Over the past five years, approximately 80 percent of Ombudsman/DIALOG inquiries have requested some form of change, and management has responded by making changes in about half of those matters. Ombudsman/DIALOG works, and it serves a valuable role by facilitating clear communications. Moreover, Ombudsman/DIALOG is an important component of the company’s ethics and compliance programs.
