H. Patrick Swygert, President Emeritus, Howard University
H. PATRICK SWYGERT served as President of Howard University from 1995 to 2008. Mr. Swygert served as President of the University at Albany, State University of New York from 1990 to 1995, and as Executive Vice President of Temple University from 1987 to 1990. He also serves on the board of The Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. Mr. Swygert served as a director of Fannie Mae from 2000 to 2008. Mr. Swygert is a member of the Advisory Council for the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of African American History and Culture, the D.C. Emancipation Commemoration Commission, the U.S. National Commission for the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), and the Eisenhower Fellowship Foundation. Mr. Swygert is 69 and has been a UTC director since 2001.
