Project Engineer, Test Systems Engineering (Pratt & Whitney)

Test Systems Engineering (TSE) provides the engineering, design and procurement of special test equipment, test facilities and test support systems required for validation and production testing of full engines and engine components.
Test Systems Engineering is seeking Project Engineers to manage assigned projects in support of production and development test programs for jet engines and components. In this role, the candidate will lead engineering projects from initial concept to final installation while interfacing with Program, other CIPTs, Procurement and Outside P&W Vendors while interfacing with TSE Engineering Staff to insure that the test hardware meets requirements for schedule, budget, and fit and function of engine test hardware. Having strong interpersonal and leadership skills as well as the ability to communicate at all levels of P&W management is important. The Project Engineer provides leadership to the TSE design team and is accountable to the customer and to TSE Management.
The major responsibility of this position is to execute Engineering Standard Work (ESW) to:

- Manage any assigned tasks as the Control Account Manager (CAM). These duties include identifying the Project scope; creating the baseline plan, schedule, and budget; and then ensuring progress is made towards task completion. This usually involves using Earned Value Management (EVM) techniques and an Integrated Master Schedule, and may include acting as the Integrated Product Team (IPT) Leader.
- Establish and execute a hardware Industrial plan. This includes approving the procurement, evaluating source selection and monitoring of fabrication and delivery of all required equipment.
- Identify improvements to Engineering Standard Work (ESW) during the execution of all assigned tasks.
- Use the Achieving Competitive Excellence (ACE) tools to identify opportunities to improve the tools, methods and processes used by Project Engineers.
- Communicate any technical issues and risks to discipline and program management in a timely manner.

At a minimum, the candidate must hold a Bachelors of Science Degree in mechanical or industrial engineering with 6-10 years of experience or equivalent. The preferred candidate will hold a Master's degree in mechanical or industrial engineering or in Project Management with 4-7 years of experience. ACE Associate for process improvement is desired

Project Management Professional (PMP) certificate is desired, but not required

A strong working knowledge of MS Office tools, including MS Project.

Limited travel will be expected.
